Come out on Wednesday nights for an evening of fun and strategy. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced tournament player, our club has it all. All Ages are welcome.
Jim Polomsky, our chess coach, was a public school teacher for 13 years and has coached scholastic teams to Regional and State Championships as well as played on the University of Houston Chess Team. He and his team are happy to provide instruction for beginners between 6:30-7:30 each week and the rest of the time is spent playing against opponents in the club.
Boards will be provided or bring your own if you wish.

Jim Polomsky played for The University of Houston Chess Team (1992-1996) and the Minnesota State University Chess Team (1996-1998) graduating with an English Degree and a Masters in Counseling. He taught for 12 years as an English teacher, and in 2013 was Teacher of the Year for Ross Sterling Middle School in Humble ISD.
Jim has played in over 70 Chess Tournaments across the United States. He studied under International Master Goran Vojinovic (USCF 2554) for several years and became an expert in the French Defense. Jim has been running scholastic chess clubs since 2001 with several of his top trained Chess Students winning Regional and State Scholastic Chess Tournaments. He has multiple systems of instructional focus to increase skill level based on Endgame study, Memorization, Puzzles, Opening Preparation, Theory, and FUN - yes FUN! - to inspire students to pursue and create their own curriculum. Yes, the best will be encouraged to learn beyond expectations.
Jim Currently Teaches kids ages 5-12 on Tuesdays from 4-6pm at Lil Mind Builders and runs a club for ALL ages at Jumpalooza on Wednesdays from 6-10pm. Private Lessons on request.
